The Role
We are looking for Engineer / Developer - Research Assistant - to join our technical team, contributing across multiple business areas according to organizational priorities.
Mandatory Requirements
Education and Profile:
• Bachelor’s degree (EQF level 6) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Civil, Environmental, other), being programming knowledge mandatory
• Demonstrated knowledge of Python
• Experience or knowledge of databases (preferably geospatial)
• Familiarity with cloud architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Eligibility Requirements (mandatory — Call ALGARVE-FSE+-03600700):
The candidate must meet one of the following conditions at the time of hiring:
• Unemployed and registered with IEFP for at least 3 consecutive months
• Unemployed and registered with IEFP for at least 2 months, if aged ≤ 29 or ≥ 45
• Unemployed and registered with IEFP regardless of duration, if: receiving unemployment or RSI benefits; person with disability; single-parent household member; spouse also unemployed; refugee; or other situations as defined in the call notice
• Person with EQF level 5+ qualification, inactive or unemployed, relocating from a non-low-density to a low-density territory (with supporting documentation)
• Other unemployed or inactive person with no Social Security records (as employee or self-employed) in the 6 months prior to hiring
Additional requirements:
• Minimum EQF level 6 qualification (bachelor’s degree)
• Availability for 100% on-site work in Faro, Algarve
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with web development (React, Node.js, or equivalent)
• Experience with REST APIs and data pipelines
• Knowledge of geospatial technologies (GIS, SAR data, image processing)
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, or containerization (Docker)
• Interest in Earth observation, artificial intelligence, or critical infrastructure
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team
